India celebrates Diwali, Sensex on a new high



The markets saw a confident session of trade during ‘Muhrat’ trading. The Sensex shot up to 21012, higher by 120 points and the Nifty gained 33 points to register 6314. The midcap index touched 8675, higher by 72 points and the smallcap index reached 11034, up 154 points. This is the first time since Jan 2008 that the Sensex is crossing the 21,000 mark. As the markets hit a new high, the skies across India lit up as people celebrated Diwali with pomp. The crackers and the festivities are in full flow.Diwali, the festival of lights is back again.
